摘  要：本论文从目的论角度论述新闻英语中委婉语的翻译。作者提出新闻中委婉语的翻译和其他翻译文本不同，委婉语的翻译需要译者考虑到相关的背景知识和文化因素。而且，委婉语中修辞手法的运用使得翻译更有难度。所以，作者建议应从目的论的角度来翻译新闻英语中的委婉语，特别是要遵循目的原则。本文分析了委婉语的定义，功能和分类，找出了翻译新闻中委婉语的难点并提出了一些有实用性的翻译策略。总之，本文将会结合一些实例来证明目的论在新闻英语中委婉语翻译中的有效性。

Euphemism Translation in Journalism
English from the Perspective of Skopos Theory
Abstract：This paper attempts to discuss euphemism translation in journalism English from the perspective of Skopos Theory by meticulously selecting many fresh examples. The author put forward translation of euphemism in journalism English is a little different from other types of contexts, which obliges the translator to consider the background and relevant cultural components. Furthermore, the employment of rhetoric as the device of euphemism makes the translation even more complicated. Therefore, the author advocates that Skopos Theory should guide euphemism translation in journalism English, especially the principle of skopos rule. This paper analyzes the definition, function and classification of euphemism, find out the barriers of euphemism translation in journalism English, the points out some useful translation strategies. In short, this thesis will take some examples to illustrate the effectiveness of Skopos Theory in euphemism translation.
