摘 要: 自从二十世纪八十年代以来,随着中国改革开放步伐的同益加快,随着与外国,尤其与美国、英国等国家的政治、经济和文化交流日益频繁,文化因素在英语教学中具有极其重要的作用,已得到英语教学界的广泛认可。
然而,在实际教学过程中,文化教学还远未得到应有的重视。造成这个现象的原因是多方面的,但主要原因有二:一方面是因为我国中学英语教学长期以来形成的只孤立地教授语言知识的现象,只重视培养学生的语言知识,忽视了语言的运用,忽视了英语学习是跨文化的学习;另一方面是尽管许多教师已经认识到文化教学的重要性,但苦于没有相关理论的指导,缺乏相对系统的文化教学方法,使得文化教学难以开展。
本文审视我国的高中英语课程标准中关于文化意识的培养,指出文化教学不应成为附属在听、说、读、写四种基本语言技能之后的第五种技能,而应将文化教学与英语语言课堂教学结合起来, 应融合于语言教学的过程中。

The Teaching of Cultures in English
Language Education in Senior Middle School
Abstract: Ever since 1980s, with the quickening steps of China’s reform and the increasing communication with foreign countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom in politics,economy and culture,the importance of culture teaching in language teaching has gained wide recognition among people in this field.
However, culture teaching is still far from being given enough consideration in actual language teaching.The main reasons behind this may concern the following two aspects.On one hand,language teaching in China has long been focusing on linguistic knowledge,and language use has not been given due importance.The fact that language learning is culture leaning has been ignored.On the other hand, although many English teachers have recognized the importance of culture teaching,many of them feel at a loss how to teach culture owing to the lack of theoretical and practical instruction.
The part of culture awareness in the National English Curriculum Standard in senior middle schools has been reconsidered in this paper ,and culture teaching ought to be integrated with the training of the four basic skills of listening,speaking,reading and writing,instead of being a fifth skill has been put forward.
